I have told you a million times (if you’re an oldie) that if you need a book then it is Build A Brand In 30 Days with Simon Middleton.
I have listened so many times. It’s soooo good.
Not implemented it all, mind you 👀
I think people get confused, branding is far beyond just a pretty logo and an over-organized Instagram feed, even if they do look delicious and you’ve put your heart and soul into it.
What should focus on is getting clear on what you stand for, what you want to give back to the world, what really gets you excited.
If you hadn’t noticed by now, I believe that everyone is capable of doing better and becoming a high achiever regardless of their background and current abilities. I love creating freedom, producing new ways of doing that, providing information to people who may have never had the opportunity to hear it beforehand, and also providing the safe space to dream big and have a high-quality support network.
If that sounds like a load of old 💩 to you, you are in the wrong place!
Once you watch a couple of videos you will soon get the vibe and if it sounds good, you’ll join us.
And that is what you need to do with your own clients. Talk about what you do, tell them how you work, show them what you offer is what they need in their life. If you don’t you end up with a load of crackpots expecting the earth for £45 and then telling you they have to pay you next week because they don’t have it today.
If you get clear on your boundaries too while you’re at it. What is ok? What’s not?
You need to know before you expect everyone around you to know. How much do you need to earn to live? Spend some time on that! That isn’t a quick “oh about £200 a week”. WORK IT OUT! If you don’t have know-how, get an accountant or Google it.
If you’re going to be sloppy and lazy setting up the business, what chance has it got? You will attract the wrong people when you don’t perform at your best. And that even means down to the products you use. Are you using tints that are £5 for 100ml because it’s “cost-effective” or are you choosing the £10 for 50ml because it gives amazing coverage, high shine, and you have so much fun when you go on the education courses?
If you want these high-quality people to come into your business, so you need to be that high-quality stylist and business owner. It will ooze out of you and you will attract the right people.
If you also want to be an average stylist with impeccable customer service skills, then do that. BUT don’t leave your clients hanging for days on end because top-notch customer service does NOT include “It’s Sunday! I’m not replying to that text! She can wait!” type attitude.
Ya with me?
Fab!
Grab the book, read it, obviously! Let me know what you think too. I have it on audible so I listen in the car.
Get clear on who YOU are, then worry about branding yourself to attract the right people and be known for certain attributes.
Oh and yes, don’t forget that sexy logo, colours, and visuals. You do still need those, it makes you stand out from the crowd and as soon as they see it, they will know. What they “know” is up to you to create.
See ya soon!
